Artist Statement
Chromesthesia is the most common type of synesthesia; In which some people have a visual experiences form listening to music. The people with this form of synesthesia sees music in shapes and colors. I’ve been tasked to make a visual interpretation of a song of my choice, however there is one limitation. I cannot make use of the original song. For my song choice I wanted a song that was iconic and empowering, and who better to choose than Beyoncé? The chosen song is “Run the World (Girls).” Using motion graphics and the art of projection, I created a light show based on the songs instrumental. The light show includes colors, shapes, song lyrics, and other videos that communicate the meaning of the song. The performer in the video was given no set choreography. I allowed them to feel the music and flow with the light show being casted upon her.
